The
ECDL Qualification is
recognised throughout Europe (and across the rest of
the World as the
ICDL - International Computer Driving Licence) as a certified
standard for Computer and Information Technology User
skills. |
 |
The ECDL
scheme offers an invaluable and transferable qualification
for individuals seeking employment, or advancement in
posts where office
IT skills are required. It is also, we believe, the most
cost effective way for businesses to develop and accredit
computer and IT applications User Skills
in their workforce.
Mapped
closely to the National Curriculum Information & Communication
Technology Key Stage Levels 1-4, as well as the National
Curriculum Key Skills, the ECDL
is
the
fastest growing IT qualification in the UK. Over 20,000
candidates qualify each month in over 2,500 ECDL Accredited
Test Centres across the country. Module 8 added to ECDL accredits for the BCS IT User
Level 2 Qualification, which also gains the equivalent Learning
Credits as a pass in GCSE IT at Grade B.
The
ECDL Syllabus is designed to cover the key concepts of computing,
as well as the practical office PC applications and their
use in both the workplace and the wider social environment.
It
is broken down
into seven
modules, including the Basic Concepts of ICT, Using a Computer & Managing Files, Word Processing, Spreadsheets,
Databases, Presentation, and Information & Communication
using ICT. A test for each must be passed before the ECDL
Certificate is awarded. The addition of the 8th Module is required to achieve IT User at Level 2.
